I started practicing yoga 35 years ago while a Ph.D. candidate in clinical psychology. Having been a collegiate basketball player I loved the physical benefits, and as an avid reader of philosophy I found that the classical texts about yoga had a deeper knowledge of the mind than what I was studying.
Ultimately I left a college teaching position to live as a yogi in the modern world, traveling and teaching up to the present.
My background is rooted in an extensive study of Sufism, the Ashtanga and Iyengar Yoga systems and seven years living in Bhakti Yoga temples.
I teach students based on their desires for growth, but do not compromise on the classical "Ashtanga" process.
After all, we are all seeking an end to pain and suffering, and there are no meaningful band-aides or short cuts.
